Building
How do we build sustainably? Do we combine modernity and tradition? Building materials?
Building infrastructure in Ethiopia is an essential part of our vision at Desta's Coffee. But we are also aware that modern construction is also one of the main drivers of environmental emissions. To counteract this, we rely on sustainable construction methods that combine the knowledge of the indigenous population with modern approaches. Our ultimate goal is environmental protection and the efficient and sustainable use of local resources. In our eyes, this enables us to have a positive influence on local building culture.
Traditional building methods as a model
The indigenous peoples of Ethiopia have been building in a tried and tested way for centuries. A construction method that is characterized by its environmental friendliness and conservation of resources. They mainly use materials that are available in the surrounding area - such as wood, stone, clay, earth and grass. This is not only sustainable, but also ideal for the local climatic conditions. Desta's Coffee is committed to preserving the knowledge and techniques required for this type of construction.

Collaboration with leading architects
To achieve the best results, we work with the most renowned architects in Ethiopia. Together we develop innovative building concepts that combine modern knowledge with traditional techniques and cultural aspects. This enables us to create sustainable infrastructures that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. And all without harming the environment.
Using existing resources
One of our main concerns is to promote construction methods that use existing resources and protect the environment. We rely on natural materials such as wood, stone, clay/earth and grass. All materials that are abundant in the environment. These materials are also biodegradable, which significantly reduces the ecological footprint of our construction projects. By using these resources, we create buildings that are in harmony with nature while meeting the needs of local people.
