Desta's Coffee is located in a region that is unique in the world: here, where Mother Nature created Arabica coffee, our coffee bushes grow in their original habitat. Ethiopia is home to over 99% of all existing Arabica coffee varieties.

Our farm is located in an area that is perfect for growing coffee. The natural environment offers ideal conditions for the cultivation of Arabica coffee, which has thrived here for centuries. Over 99% of all existing Arabica varieties can still be found in their origin, Ethiopia. This diversity is a treasure that we nurture and develop in order to offer our customers the best that the coffee world has to offer. To this end, we select the most adaptable varieties in order to continuously develop our ‘magic formula’ for excellent coffee.

Challenges and innovations - adapting to the environment

Our farm is located at around 2,200 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest in Ethiopia. This altitude not only produces extremely fine and complex flavour profiles in our coffee, but also presents us with special challenges. The cooler climate and the specific amount of rainfall require a deep understanding of the material. We work closely with leading researchers and scientists who specialise in coffee science.

A sustainable path - in balance with nature

Coffee is one of the most industrially grown agricultural products in the world. Unfortunately, this is often accompanied by a high environmental impact, particularly through the intensive use of chemicals and deforestation. This conventional cultivation not only harms nature, but also local communities. At Desta's Coffee, we have decided to take a completely different approach. We do not use any chemicals and work exclusively with sustainable cultivation methods that protect and preserve the natural habitat. Our aim is to produce high quality coffee that is not only exceptional in flavour, but also respects and protects the environment.

We are proud to work with the Agricultural Research Institute in Jimma, Ethiopia. This institution is one of the world's leading centres for coffee research and helps us to identify and develop the ideal varieties for our specific environmental conditions. Through this close collaboration, we are able to apply the best methods and technologies to grow our coffee sustainably and to the highest quality standards. Commitment you can taste.
